GALVONE in Limerick city is the litter capital of Ireland, business chiefs revealed today.
Irish Businesses Against Litter also pointed the finger at the Northsides of Dublin (inner city) and Cork for being below par.
But on the flip side, Tullamore in Co Offaly is the cleanest, taking the top spot on the list, followed by roads around Dublin Airport and Leixlip, Co Kildare.
Overall, Ireland is the cleanest it has ever been with 80% of towns and cities up to or better than the European norm.
More than 90% of rural towns were found to be clean while other parts of Dublin, Cork and Galway scored well in the survey, which examined 40 different areas of each city.
Ibal's Conor Horgan said despite the good statistics overall, there were still spots that need to be addressed.
He added: "We haven't seen much improvement in social housing areas.
"Where communities are often transient, social neglect is evident, and tidy towns committees lacking."
