 DIRECTOR RESIGNS FROM BOARD OF MAXWELL NEWSPAPERS
 NEW YORK, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Sheldon Aboff submitted his


resignation today from the board of directors of Maxwell Newspapers, Inc., The Daily News announced.
 The board accepted his resignation and agreed to meet in the very near future to decide on the reconstitution of the board to include independent members.
 Current board members are: Kevin Maxwell, News chairman & publisher; Ian Maxwell; Larry Bloom, News chief operating officer; Jim Willse, News editor & senior vice president; and Jay Swardenski, News vice president of labor relations.
