DIMARK, INC. ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER EARNINGS; NET INCOME INCREASES 91 PERCENT

LANGHORNE, Pa., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- DiMark, Inc. (AMEX: DMK) today reported consolidated sales and earnings for the first quarter ended May 31, 1993.
Sales for the first quarter ended May 31, 1993, increased 26 percent to $12,755,059 from $10,133,378 for the same quarter last year. Net income for the quarter increased 91 percent to $422,461 or $.13 per share, compared to $220,582 or $.08 per share for the first quarter last year.
Commenting on these results, Thomas E. Garvey, chairman of DiMark, Inc., stated, "We are very pleased with the operating results of both DiMark Marketing, Inc. and Mars Graphic Services, Inc. DiMark Marketing recorded a 35 percent increase in sales compared to the same quarter last year, primarily as a result of the increased use of DiMark Marketing's services by existing clients. DiMark Marketing's sales of $8,339,252 represents 65 percent of consolidated revenues for the quarter ended May 31, 1993.
"In addition to the fine performance of DiMark Marketing, we are also very pleased with the results reported by Mars Graphic Services. For the first quarter ended May 31, 1993, revenues increased 17 percent compared to the first quarter a year ago. These results are even more impressive since they were recorded during a period that was disrupted by the installation of a new Harris-Heidelberg M100L ten color printing press. We expect that the installation of the new press, which replaces one of the older Harris M-80 presses, will improve both our efficiencies and capabilities."
Michael L. Wert, chief executive officer of DiMark, Inc., stated, "Our strategy of focusing on the marketing needs of clients in the rapidly changing world of health care, insurance, pharmaceutical, telecommunication, and financial services industries continues to provide us with business opportunities. The first quarter was highlighted by the addition of seven new insurance clients. We are in the process of developing database marketing programs for these new clients which will be implemented later in the year.
"In addition to the strong financial performance during the first quarter, we are also very proud to report that we were chosen, along with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, as the first-ever `Direct Marketing Insurance Company of the Year.' The award was given on April 21, 1993, by the DMA's Direct Marketing Insurance Council to recognize significant contributions to the direct marketing insurance industry. This is very special to us since it recognizes the unique strategic relationship that we have developed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois.
"The strong financial performance of the company coupled with the addition of several new clients is consistent with our objectives of delivering long-term value to our shareholders."
DiMark, Inc. is a vertically integrated database marketing outsource company.
