DIGITAL REALIGNS SALES TERRITORIES TO FORM AMERICAS AREA

MAYNARD, Mass., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Equipment Corporation (NYSE: DEC) today announced that it has realigned its United States, Canada, and Latin America/Caribbean sales territories to form a new sales entity called the Americas Area.
Digital Vice President Russell A. Gullotti, who formerly headed the United States Area, has been named president of the newly created Americas Area. In this position, he will continue report to Edward E. Lucente, Digital's vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing.
Scott Roeth, vice president, who formerly led U.S. Sales and Marketing, has been appointed to head the U.S. Territory. Roeth, Luis Zuniga, vice president and head of the Latin America/Caribbean Territory, and Ron Larkin, vice president and head of the Canada Territory, will report to Gullotti.
"We see great potential for increasing sales and improving operating efficiencies by grouping these sales territories, and thereby reducing our own internal barriers," said Edward E. Lucente, Digital's vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing.
"The realignment of this area is the latest in a number of changes to the configuration of the sales organization that includes the movement of the Asia/Pacific Area headquarters to Singapore and the reduction in the number of European territories from from seven to five. These changes now give Digital a worldwide sales organization that is poised to capitalize on market similarities, regional trade agreements and compatible time zones," concluded Lucente.
