DIGITAL MUSIC EXPRESS BRINGS HOME A WHOLE NEW WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT

 Three Detroit-area MetroVision Cable Systems
Latest to Offer Revolutionary New Music Service
LOS ANGELES, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- A revolution is sweeping through suburban Detroit, and it's changing the way Eastern Michigan listens to music. Led locally by MetroVision Cable and Digital Music Express (DMX), its ranks are growing larger everyday.
Now offered locally by a trio of MetroVision cable systems in Oakland County, Redford, and Livonia, DMX brings home the ultimate music experience, delivering 30 channels of the highest quality, uninterrupted compact disc-standard music programming directly to home stereo systems. With a wide variety of specially programmed music formats -- from Big Bands to blues; rock, rap and reggae to soul and symphonies, country to classical -- drawn from the industry's most comprehensive CD library and digitally transmitted via cable, DMX continuously delivers more of the music today's listeners want, when they want it, all commercial and disc jockey free.
Located in Farmington, MetroVision of Oakland County serves nearly 50,000 households in the suburban Detroit communities of Novi, Farmington and Farmington Hills. MetroVision of Livonia and MetroVision of Redford serve an additional 57,000 homes in suburban Wayne County.
Other cable companies in the greater Detroit area that offer DMX to subscribers include TCI Cablevision in Royal Oak, which also serves the communities of Ferndale and Berkley, TCI Cablevision of West Oakland County, located in Walled Lake, and TCI Cable of Woodhaven, serving Lincoln Park, Riverview and Trenton. The service is also available to cable subscribers in nearby Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti through Columbia Cable of Michigan.
Already, more than 120,000 households in such cities as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, Denver, Philadelphia, Miami and Minneapolis have signed up for DMX through local cable companies since the service began a nationwide rollout in late 1991.
"DMX is really on the cutting edge of home entertainment," said Thomas Bjorkland, MetroVision vice president. "We believe it's going to change the way people listen to music in their homes." To hear the future of home entertainment, Bjorkland invites interested listeners to contact their local cable system office for a free DMX demonstration that includes the innovative DMX-DJ, a remote control unit that instantaneously provides programming information -- including song title, artist, album title, label and composer -- for all selections on the service.
