DIGITAL F/X INTRODUCES HITCHCOCK

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital F/X Inc., the award-winning producer of digital video and audio solutions, today announced Hitchcock(TM), the master of editing tools for the emerging desktop video industry.
Hitchcock, priced under $8,000, is a non-linear, disk-based editor which utilizes JPEG hardware compression and Digital F/X Advanced Productivity Software in a single board solution for the Apple Macintosh. Hitchcock provides digital video editing and authoring with full motion (30 frames per second) and full screen (640 x 480) playback, integrates PostScript graphics and fonts, supports PICS animations, QuickTime, and includes digital audio capability.
"We understand the challenges of integrating 'desktop video' tools in real world production environments," said Richard Snee, director of marketing for desktop products. "Hitchcock is the evolutionary result of extensive experience with our award-winning Video F/X Plus system and our customers' requests for an affordable, flexible video post-production tool."
Professionals are faced with remarkable requirements and demands in producing video projects -- budget constraints, turn-around time, distribution medium. Desktop videographers demands for application flexibility are now addressed with this one system. Hitchcock can generate QuickTime movies, print directly to video tape from hard disk, export a professional edit decision list for compatibility with high-end post production suites, or integrate with a Video F/X system for the best of tape-based and disk-based editing.
"If I have a multimedia project, I can now turn that into a QuickTime movie. Using Hitchcock for higher-end projects, I can output an edit decision list and finish it at a post-production suite," said David Russek, president of Mixed Media Works in Pennsylvania. "Now there's one tool -- Hitchcock -- which I can use at every level of the post-production process for comprehensive results."
Hitchcock is the first digital video editing and authoring system to feature user selectable quality and frame size. Entry level videographers can use camcorders or standard consumer-level VCRs. Video professionals can use RS422 decks with Hitchcock machine control for high-end quality productions. Operating at 640 x 480, the system requires 30-40 megabytes per minute of digital video and audio.
Hitchcock retails for $7,995 and will ship in April during the National Association of Broadcasters tradeshow in Las Vegas.
Based in Mountain View, Digital F/X Inc. manufactures and markets digital video and audio post-production systems for the professional and emerging desktop markets.
