DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS' HUFFAKER MOVES TO APPLIED IMMUNE SCIENCES

DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS' HUFFAKER MOVES TO APPLIED IMMUNE SCIENCES
ALPHARETTA, Ga., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Communications Associates Inc. (NYSE: DCA) today said Craig J. Huffaker, executive vice president, chief financial officer and a director, has resigned to take similar high level positions with Applied Immune Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: AISX), a biomedical company in Menlo Park, Calif.
Huffaker, who held a variety of financial management positions at DCA during the past 14 years, had served as the company's chief financial officer since 1983.
"Craig Huffaker played a key role in helping DCA become one of the leading personal computer products companies in the country," said C. "Garry" Betty, DCA president and chief executive officer. "After many years of service, we understand his desire to move to new challenges. Still, we will all miss his talent and leadership."
"Having the opportunity to be a part of DCA has been an outstanding professional experience," said Huffaker. "There is, of course, sadness in leaving friends and co-workers after over a decade of working together. I leave knowing that DCA has a solid management team in place and is a strong player in the personal computer industry. I am very excited about joining such a highly innovative company as AIS with its pioneering biomedical technology."
Applied Immune Sciences Inc. is focused on the development and commercialization of device-based systems for treating immune-related diseases. Initial therapeutic products are designed to improve the effectiveness of bone marrow transplantation and to provide new approaches in the treatment of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), certain forms of cancer and septic shock. Several human clinical studies are in progress.
DCA said a replacement for Huffaker has not been named. The company said the financial and administrative operations that reported to Huffaker will report to Betty on an interim basis.
Based 30 miles north of Atlanta with offices worldwide, DCA designs, manufactures, markets and supports PC networking products that enhance the productivity of PC users.
