DIGITAL; We've scoured the digital and satellite channels to pick five unmissable shows.

what? Russell Howard's Good News Extra when? BBC Three, tonight, 9pm Here in Britain we don't like getting too used to things. We can just about handle having our soap operas on all year round and we don't like it if the news bulletins get shifted.

Clearly, it seems, the powers-that-be believe that if they gave us an extended run of anything, we'd get giddy with excitement.

1 This is the kind of programme that could and should be on all-year-round - possible extended to an hour and with the occasional big-name guest thrown in.

Russell, above, could be our own Jay Leno with the right backing, but until then we have to settle for another eight-week run of this terrific programme.

The comedian presents an extended look at the week's stories, offering his perspective on the headlines that have dominated the media, and examining unusual items submitted by the viewers at home.

what? Bored To Death when? Sky Atlantic, Monday, 10.15pm Sky Atlantic has come along and shaken everything up. If you can't converse about the latest episode of Boardwalk Empire or Blue Bloods, you're a social outcast. And now they're adding another impressive show to their roster.

2 Bored To Death stars Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan Ames, below right, a struggling novelist who, after his girlfriend dumps him, decides to become a private investigator. The problem is, he's not very good at it.

Schwartzman, whose previous projects include Rushmore, Funny People and Scott Pilgrim vs The World, is perfectly cast as Jonathan. However, it's Ted Danson who steals the show as George Christopher, a womanising, party-going magazine editor. This is easily his best role since he played Sam in Cheers.

what? Sex And The Sitcom when? BBC Four, Tuesday, 9pm When you think about British sitcoms, sex doesn't usually spring to mind.

Thankfully, we were denied the sight of Terry and June getting it on, while the idea of George and Mildred's nocturnal fumblings isn't something we'd want to see either. So if you tune into this documentary expecting to see lots of 'amusing' rumpy pumpy, then you're going to be very disappointed indeed . Instead, it aims to reveal how situation comedies responded to the sexual revolution, and the seeming obsession they had with frustrated women and innuendo.

3 There will also be a comparison into the UK's approach to comedy sex and that of its more liberal counterpart America.

Among those offering their opinions will be Wendy Craig, whose Butterflies character Ria Parkinson contemplated an affair with another man, and Leslie Joseph, above, better known as man-eating Dorien in Birds Of A Feather.

what? Kerry Katona - The Next Chapter when? ITV2, Wednesday, 9pm Okay so we've heard it all before; the former Atomic Kitten, below, promises that her demons have been put well and truly behind her and just to prove it all to us, she's launching another reality series. But the cynic in us may soon be eating their words, as this time Kerry really does seem to have turned her life around and is putting motherhood first.

4 However she soon learns that scars of old cannot be removed just like that - and so travels north to see her tattooist in the hope of getting a new design inked on her back to cover up reference to her estranged husband Mark. On a happier note, Kerry's attending the TV Choice awards ceremony and puts in more training in preparation for filming her new fitness DVD.

what? How To Make It In America when? Sky Atlantic, Thursday, 10.55pm For newcomers, this series may sound like a self-help guide.

Instead, it follows a bunch of enterprising twentysomethings hustling their way through New York City's fashion scene.

The main protagionists are Ben Epstein and his friend and business partner Cam Calderon, along with their well-connected friend Domingo and Cam's cousin Rene - so a kind of Entourage meets Sex And The City then.

5 In the last of the current series, the entrepreneurs can't think of away to fill their order following the theft of Rene's truck - and their supply of T-shirts.

However, Cam begins to suspect that somebody planned the robbery, and decides to track down their missing merchandise.

Meanwhile, Rachel, above, contemplates the future after her one-night stand.

Bryan Greenberg and Victor Rasuk head the cast.
