DIGIBOARD ANNOUNCES PC IMAC PROVIDES HIGH-SPEED, REMOTE ACCESS TO LOCAL AREA NETWORKS

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- DigiBoard, (NASDAQ: DGII) a leading provider of LAN/WAN connectivity solutions, today announced the PC IMAC, which employs ISDN (digital telephone lines) to provide remote PCs high-speed access to Ethernet LANs.
The PC IMAC is an internal 16-bit card for Industry-Standard Architecture (ISA) bus personal computers running Novell NetWare. It extends the corporate LAN over ISDN lines transmitting data at up to 128kbps. This approximates the speed of Ethernet for most users and gives them almost the same response as local LAN connections. PC IMAC users are not encumbered by the performance degradation inherent in remote control software and can use LAN application software unchanged.
A survey by Link Resources, an industry research firm, predicts that by the year 2000, at least 25 percent of the workforce, or 33 million people, will be telecommuting. The PC IMAC provides telecommuters with high-speed transmission at an affordable price. In addition, for network administrators it provides simple configuration and control through English language commands
"Using the PC IMAC to dial into an IMAC on the corporate LAN provides the remote user a direct LAN connection," said Ham Mathews, general manager of DigiBoard's telecommunications group. "Operation is completely transparent -- the telecommuter uses the same login procedure and the same software as if locally attached to the network server."
The DigiBoard PC IMAC will be demonstrated at the INTEROP trade show in Washington, D.C., March 10-12, 1993, booth 2321 and as part of the Interop Telecommuting Solutions Showcase in Pavilion A. The product has a suggested retail price of $995 and will be available through DigiBoard's network of resellers. In November 1992, DigiBoard announced a strategic alliance with Bell Atlantic to jointly market ISDN business applications using DigiBoard's LAN internetworking and telecommuting products.
PC IMAC connects directly to an ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) phone line and is compatible with 64 Kbps, 56 Kbps and ISDN voice circuit-switched calls. The product supports Novell NetWare and any application that runs on that operating system.
DigiBoard, a division of Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII), is a leading provider of connectivity solutions for multiuser systems, local and wide area
networks. Digi International was recently ranked the

25th best small company in the U.S. by Forbes Magazine.
