DIGI INTERNATIONAL REPORTS RECORD SALES AND EARNINGS
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Digi International

Inc. (NASDAQ: DGII) today announced its 24th consecutive quarter of record sales and its 10th consecutive quarter of record earnings with sales of $13.99 million and earnings of $2.80 million for the quarter ended March 31, 1992.
Sales and earnings increased 42 percent over the corresponding quarter of 1991. Earnings per share for the quarter increased from $.16 in 1991 to $.20 in 1992 as adjusted for the March 31, 1992 three-for-two stock split. Per share earnings increased despite dilution caused by the company's 1.5 million share offering in September, 1991.
Digi International Inc. also posted record sales and earnings for the six months ended March 31, 1992, of $26.6 million and $5.2 million, respectively. This represents a 51 percent increase in sales and a 41 percent increase in earnings over the same period in 1991. Earnings per share for the same period rose 24 percent to $.37, again despite the previously noted dilution.
"We attribute our success in this growing market to several factors," said Mike Moroz, Digi International chief executive officer. "First, our products continue to be recognized for their leading edge performance in the multiuser microcomputer marketplace. Second, bringing Arnet's operation into line with Digi's sales, revenue and operating expense expectations is proceeding well as it completes its first full year as a wholly owned subsidiary. And third, sales in Europe increased substantially after being flat during the first quarter. We attribute this to the increased presence our sales support office in Cologne has given us in the European community."
Digi International Inc. is a leading provider of data communications hardware and software products that permit microcomputers to function as multiuser systems in a variety of operating system environments. The company produces these communications subsystems under the DigiBoard and Arnet tradenames for the rapidly growing microcomputer connectivity market.
