DIGI INTERNATIONAL REPORTS 25TH CONSECUTIVE QUARTER
OF RECORD SALES, 11TH OF RECORD EARNINGS
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Digi International Inc. (NASDAQ: DGII) today announced its 25th consecutive quarter of record sales and its 11th consecutive quarter of record earnings with sales of $14.1 million and earnings of $2.87 million for the quarter ended June 30, 1992.
Sales increased 25 percent while earnings increased 39 percent over the corresponding quarter of 1991. Earnings per share for the quarter were $.21, a 24 percent increase from $.17 in 1991, adjusted for the March 31, 1992 three-for-two stock split.
Digi International Inc. also posted record sales and earnings for the nine months ended June 30, 1992 of $40.7 million and $8.06 million, respectively. This represents a 41 percent increase in sales and earnings over the same period in 1991. Earnings per share for the same period rose 24 percent to $.57.
"We signed 11 new distributors worldwide during the quarter. They are divided among the U.S., South America, Mexico, Europe and former eastern bloc nations. We continued to have solid international activity where sales increased 46 percent over the same quarter last year. In addition, we are going into our fourth fiscal quarter of 1992 with the largest backlog in the company's history, due primarily to increased OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) business," said Mike Moroz, Digi International's chief executive officer. "We accomplished these activities in market conditions where our sales were essentially flat from the second to third quarter and a quarter in which we saw competitors' experience significant revenue shortfalls, personnel layoffs and of fice closures due to the lingering recession. Digi, in fact, is currently looking for additional space to accommodate its increased manufacturing needs as a result of our overall growth."
Digi International Inc. is the leading provider of data communications hardware and software products that permit microcomputers to function as multiuser systems in a variety of operating system environments. The company produces these communications subsystems under the DigiBoard and Arnet tradenames for the rapidly growing microcomputer connectivity and networked systems market.
