DIFI Participates in Jordan Forum Highlighting Regional Consultation on Parenting Support.
The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), participated at the Regional Consultation on 'Parenting Support in the MENA Region', organized by the UNICEF Middle East and North Africa Regional Office (UNICEF MENARO) and UNICEF Jordan in collaboration with Maestral International, held from June 11-13, 2019, in Amman, Jordan.
The regional consultation is part of a wider consultancy project geared towards the provision of strategic and technical guidance to UNICEF and partners relating to "the effective and scalable implementation of evidence-based parenting interventions for children and adolescents in the MENA region.
Commenting on DIFI's participation in the event, Dr. Sharifa Noaman Al-Emadi, Executive Director, DIFI, said: "In light of increased interest in evidence-based parenting programs in the Arab region and around the world, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of the regional strategy, roadmap, and practical guide around parenting support and cross-sectoral programming for the MENA region.
"The event is an opportunity for DIFI to meet regional and international stakeholders, and share learnings and insights into current approaches and key features of parenting interventions, implemented in different contexts, across the MENA region and globally."
DIFI participated in the second session of day one of the consultation, focusing on 'Global and Regional Experiences on Parenting Support', where Dr. Anis Ben Brik, Director of Family Policy Department, DIFI, presented findings of DIFI's regionally groundbreaking report 'Parenting Programs in the Arab Region'"
The event provided a platform for stakeholders, NGOs, and organizations to gain common understanding of key evidence on effective, scalable, and sustainable parenting interventions designed to improve multiple child outcomes across various developmental stages, from infancy to adolescence.
DIFI is a global policy and advocacy institute working to advance knowledge on Arab families through research and promote evidence-based polices at a national, regional, and international level. The institute has special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
