1812: Spencer Perceval. British Prime Minister. Assassinated by John Bellingham. He was the only British Prime Minister to be assassinated. 1981: Bob Marley. Legendary singer/ songwriter. Died of cancer at the age of 36.

1996: Bill Graham. Irish journalist. He was credited with discovering U2. Died of a heart attack aged 44.

2001: Douglas Adams. British author, famous for HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy and The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

2002: Patrick Fyffe. Female impersonator, better known as Dame Hilda Bracket, and one half of double act Hinge and Bracket.

2003: Noel Redding. Bass player for Jimi Hendrix.
