DICK DEVOS RETURNS TO AMWAY -- THE WINDQUEST GROUP ANNOUNCES OFFICER CHANGES

ADA, Mich., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Dick DeVos today announced his departure from The Windquest Group, where he currently serves as president, to assume his new responsibilities as president of Amway Corporation.
This announcement coincides with his father, Richard M. DeVos' announcement to retire from Amway Corporation. Dick DeVos will assume the role of chairman and Betsy DeVos, who currently serves as vice president-administration of The Windquest Group, will succeed her husband as president. Bill Payne, who has been with The Windquest Group since its founding and who most recently served as vice president- operations, will now assume the role of chief operating officer.
In making the announcement, Dick DeVos reinforced his firm commitment to the continued operation and projected growth of The Windquest Group, in light of his decision to return to Amway as president. "My decision to return to Amway will have no impact on the expansion plan of The Windquest Group. Windquest has an aggressive and exciting operating plan for 1993, and I firmly endorse the management team to implement that plan. My departure from the day-to-day activities of The Windquest Group will have no significant impact on the success of the organization or its investment portfolio."
"While we will miss Dick's daily involvement, his strategic participation as chairman will still be relied upon. Our commitment is to the continued growth of The Windquest Group," according to Betsy DeVos, the newly named president.
"We have recently completed our 1993 planning process and are excited and optimistic about our current operations and future plans. The group continues to look for companies to acquire and anticipates making two acquisitions within the coming year," according to Payne, chief operating officer. "As the business moves into its fourth year of operation, we have never been in a stronger operating position. We were fortunate to achieve the successful divestment of Michigan Litho, Inc. in 1992 and that, along with the strong performance of our other investments, has put us in a position to make additional acquisitions in 1993."
The Windquest Group, a privately held multi-company management group founded in 1989 by Dick DeVos, includes four companies ranging from medical products, manufacturing to international trading. The Windquest Group offices are located at 600 Penn Plaza Building, 126 Ottawa NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
