/REPEATING TO CORRECT GARBLE IN THE FIRST AND LAST PARAGRAPHS/
DANVILLE, Va., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Dibrell Brothers, Incorporated (NASDAQ-NMS: DBRL) was recently honored as a 1993 Premier 100 corporation in the nation for excellence in information systems. In the consumer products and services category, Dibrell ranked first among publicly traded corporations with revenue from $300 million to more than $100 billion. The Premier 100 awards are made each year by Computerworld magazine and were presented at ceremonies held in New York.
Computerworld magazine annually surveys 600 U.S. corporations in making its Premier 100 rankings. Corporations are measured according to investment in information systems technology, the percentage of employees who utilized personal computers and PC networks, the degree to which information systems are linked to strategic decision making and the business performance of the company. The magazine also conducts a peer survey of target companies and a survey of chief officers in the industry group to rank the quality and effectiveness of a corporation's information systems.
 L. Randolph Handy, vice president, manages Dibrell's information systems and cites two main reasons for the company's leadership in this field: investment in new technology and investment in quality personnel to make those systems operate efficiently and effectively. "Dedicated people are the driving force of any system and we have worked hard to build an outstanding worldwide team at Dibrell," said Handy.
"The service we provide to our customers is equally important as the quality of the products we sell. Our goal at Dibrell is to provide our customers with world-class service that enhances their business operations. Our advanced information systems allow us to provide that level of service to our customers everyday. It is very gratifying to be recognized by our customers and competitors as a leader in this field," said Handy.
Dibrell Brothers, Inc. is engaged in two business segments -- tobacco purchasing, processing, packaging and storing and fresh cut flower import and distribution. Headquartered in Danville, Va., Dibrell is an international Fortune 500 company operating in 24 countries throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and South America, and employing more than 4,600 people.
