In reviewing the company's financial results, Richard A. Sandberg, chairman, said, "This quarter's sales increase represents our 40th consecutive quarter-to-quarter increase in revenues. We were pleased to increase gross profits during the third quarter of 1993 despite the fact that the company incurred additional start up costs related to the transition of the Diacyte(R) prostate cancer testing services into our Stratford facility and the absorption of the unprofitable operations of our newly acquired genetic and molecular testing laboratory located in Waltham, Mass."
Jack Davis, president and co-CEO, added, "During the quarter we continued to build our growing gynecology business through the introduction of a new screening and long-term monitoring test called Osteocyte Plus(TM). This new biochemical profile is offered to gynecologists and endocrinologists to assist them in determining a menopausal woman's risk of developing osteoporosis and coronary heart disease, two serious and often life threatening conditions. Osteocyte Plus(TM) is in the early stage of introduction and we have been pleased with the reception it is getting in the market."
DIANON Systems, headquartered in Stratford, is a leading provider of testing services and diagnostic information to a focused audience of cancer treating physicians and gynecologists in the United States and Europe.
