DIAMOND-STAR MOTORS ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT REALIGNMENT

NORMAL, Ill., July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Diamond-Star Motors Corp. (DSM) has announced a realignment of its executive management team as a result of the departure of Katsuhiko Kawasoe, executive vice president of finance and corporate secretary and treasurer. The realignment became effective July 1.
Kawasoe, an employee of Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (MMC) for more than 32 years, recently returned to Japan to assume the position of deputy corporate general manager - overseas production engineering and control at MMC's corporate headquarters in Tokyo. He had been a DSM executive vice president and board member since the corporation was formed in October 1985.
"Mr. Kawasoe has been a guiding force for Diamond-Star, from the initial stages of the facility's construction through the production launch of our latest automobile, the Galant. His dedication, loyalty and expertise proved invaluable time and time again. He will be greatly missed," said DSM President and CEO Tsuneo Ohinouye.
"DSM's Board of Directors examined the corporation's needs for today, and more importantly, for tomorrow. As a result of that review, the executive management team has now been realigned to better serve those needs," Ohinouye added.
Kohei Ikuta, former executive vice president of administration, sales and marketing and corporate planning, has been appointed to fill Kawasoe's position. In this capacity, Ikuta will also serve as DSM's corporate secretary and treasurer. In addition to his new responsibilities as executive vice president of finance, Ikuta will continue to oversee the administration, sales and marketing and corporate planning departments.
Other employees to receive appointments due to the restructuring are Shoji Sakai and Minoru Haneoka.
Sakai, executive vice president of human resources since September 1992, will also now direct general affairs.
Haneoka has been named general manager of production engineering. Prior to his position at DSM, he served as a manager in MMC's production engineering department. He replaces Hirao Iijima who returned to MMC as assistant general manager of production engineering at Nagoya Vehicle Works in Nagoya, Japan. Iijima has served as DSM's production engineering general manager since 1987.
The new board of directors is as follows:
Tsuneo Ohinouye president and chief executive officer

 planning, administration and marketing
