 DIA MUSEUM SHOPS WELCOME JAN BARNEY NEWMAN,
 CREATOR OF ARISTOPLAY GAMES FOR FAMILIES
 DETROIT, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Finding the right mix of education and enjoyment has long been a priority of parents in teaching their children about culture and the arts. A new series of games, designed to make learning fun, is available at The Detroit Institute of Arts museum shops and local shoppers will soon have an opportunity to meet the creator.
 Jan Barney Newman, educator and president of Ann Arbor-based Aristoplay, Ltd., will greet customers of the DIA's Somerset Collection store, in Troy, Saturday, Nov. 7, and will visit the museum's Twelve Oaks Mall shop, in Novi, Saturday, Nov. 14. Newman will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days.
 Derived from the Greek word "aristos," meaning "best," Aristoplay games have received several Parents' Choice awards and are recommended by such highly regarded magazines as Good Housekeeping, MS., U.S. News & World Report and Games.
 Aristoplay games focus on such topics as art, history, music, geography and science. Subject matter is presented in a way that is entertaining, aesthetically appealing and educationally stimulating. Each of Aristoplay's games has been researched by scholars and tested by teachers and players of all ages to provide a challenge for all family members and to allow a child to grow into more challenging levels.
 The games retail for $7-$35. Titles include:

 Two Detroit Institute of Arts suburban museum shops have opened since September 1991 and complement the original shop located within the museum in Detroit's Cultural Center. The Somerset Collection shop is on the upper level of the center. The Twelve Oaks shop is situated along the Lord & Taylor corridor on the upper level, visible from the mall's center court.
 Proceeds from museum shop purchases support The Detroit Institute of Arts programs.
