DI INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES THE SUCCESSFUL DRILLING OF ITS
 SECOND COALBED METHANE GAS WELL
HOUSTON, Dec. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- DI Industries, Inc. (AMEX: DRL) (the "company"), announced today that its oil and gas exploration and production subsidiary, DI Energy, Inc., has successfully drilled its second coalbed methane gas well.
The well, the No. 1-3 Penn Central, located in Saline County, Ill., was drilled into the cavern of an abandoned coal mine at 271 feet total depth. The well flowed methane at an estimated rate of 212,000 cubic feet of gas per day upon reaching total depth, and additional testing is continuing. Drilling cost on this well is estimated at $16,000.
The company's first successful well, the No. 1-10 Penn Central, was drilled in September 1991 and tested 278,000 cubic feet of gas per day. The No. 1-3 Penn Central and the No. 1-10 Penn Central are within approximately two miles of each other and are in two different abandoned coal mines.
This drilling is on the 42,000 acres in Illinois which the company announced on Jan. 15, 1991, that it had acquired the rights to drill from the Penn Central Corporation, the company's major stockholder.
The company's president, Max Dillard, stated, "This drilling is in keeping with the company's current objective to continue seeking out a variety of projects in which to direct the company's operations while the country's domestic oil and gas drilling market is so depressed. The company is continuing with a major marketing effort in South America with tenders for work in Venezuela expected in January 1992."
DI Industries, Inc., provides onshore contract drilling and well workover services to firms in the oil and gas industry, commercial drilling, oil and gas exploration and production, and equipment repair and sales in 14 states.
