 DEXTER ELECTS NEW DIRECTOR
 WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dexter Corporation


(NYSE: DEX), a leading worldwide specialty materials manufacturer, announced today that Max O. Weber, former chairman and chief executive officer of Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation, resigned from the board of directors for health reasons. Weber, age 63, joined the board in 1989.
 Dexter also announced the election by the board of directors of Charles H. Curl to serve as a director for the remainder of Weber's term which expires in 1994.
 Formerly vice president, strategic planning for Avon Products, Inc., Curl is president of Curl & Associates, an independent management consulting firm specializing in the formulation of global business strategy and managing strategic change. Curl, age 43, gained domestic and international experience in a number of Dexter's businesses as a management consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc. and the Boston Consulting Group, Inc., as a principal of Resource Planning Associates, and as the founding partner of Telesis in Boston.
 Prior to his career in business, Curl was a practicing attorney and holds a bachelor of arts degree in government from Harvard University as well as a doctor of law degree from Harvard Law School.
