DETROIT FREE PRESS OFFERS AUTO ENTHUSIAST MAGAZINE CAR REVIEWS BY FAX
DETROIT, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Free Press announced Driveline(TM), its automated auto review delivery service. Now, whether you need to know about the family sedan you have to buy or the sports car of your wildest dreams, Driveline is always revved up and ready to peel out.
With Driveline, anyone who has a MasterCard or VISA and a touch tone phone can call 1-800-685-1475 for almost instant, 24-hour access by fax or mail to more than 500 automotive reviews from the nation's top automotive enthusiast publications.
Reviews from Car and Driver, Road & Track, Motor Trend and Automobile Magazine, all looking very much as they were originally printed -- as well as dozens of reviews adapted from ones that ran in the Detroit Free Press -- are included on Driveline, all for $4.95 apiece.
This new service reflects the combined efforts of the Detroit Free Press, which developed the concept and secured the cooperation of the four magazine publishers, and Demand Publishing Inc., of Dexter, Mich., which specializes in providing highly automated fax-on-demand and related services.
For Driveline, Demand Publishing scanned thousands of magazine pages directly into a computer. The computer, in turn, faxes faithful, digitized copies to customers requesting Driveline reviews through the automated selection process.
-- To order a free menu of reviews: Call 1-800-685-1475, follow the prompts, and Driveline will fax or mail back to you, free of charge, a complete list of every review available. The menu is updated as new reviews are published and new publications added.
-- To order a review: If you know the menu number of the review you want, have your VISA or MasterCard handy. Call 1-800-685-1475. Follow the simple instructions to provide your card number, menu selection numbers and fax machine phone number or address. You may order more than one review -- at $4.95 apiece -- in a single call.
-- For customer service: In the unlikely event you encounter any problems using Driveline, call 1-800-688-3293 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and ask for the Driveline operator.
