DETROIT EDISON TO ISSUE NEW PREFERRED STOCK SERIES

 DETROIT, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit Edison (NYSE: DTE) today announced it plans to issue a new series of preferred stock expected to total $50 million.
 Detroit Edison intends to use the stock proceeds for the optional redemption of all outstanding shares of its cumulative preferred stock, 9.32 percent series.
 The company expects to issue a notice of redemption for the 9.32 percent series preferred stock following the completion of the sale of the new issue.
 Morgan Stanley will serve as managing underwriter for the new issue.
