DETROIT EDISON SETS 1993 PEAK DEMAND RECORD

 DETROIT, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Hot, sticky weather today stimulated record 1993 demand for electricity by Detroit Edison's (NYSE: DTE) 1.9 million customers. Customers used a record 9,071,000 kilowatts (kW) of electricity during the hour ending at 5 p.m., the highest peak demand this year. The all-time record of 9,133,000 kW was set Aug. 2, 1988. The utility's previous 1993 peak of 9,042,000 kW was set July 28.
