DETROIT EDISON SETS 1993 PEAK DEMAND RECORD

 DETROIT, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- High humidity and temperatures today stimulated record 1993 demand for electricity by Detroit Edison's (NYSE: DTE) 1.9-million customers. Customers used a record 8,747,000 kilowatts (kW) of electricity during the hour ending at 5 p.m., the highest peak demand this year.
 The all-time record of 9,133,000 kW was set Aug. 2, 1988.
