DETROIT EDISON SETS 1992 PEAK DEMAND RECORD
DETROIT, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- High humidity and temperatures

today stimulated record 1992 demand for electricity by Detroit Edison's (NYSE: DTE) 1.9 million customers. Customers used a record 8,703,000 kilowatts (kW) of electricity during the hour ending at 4 p.m., the highest peak demand this year.
Beginning at noon, demand surpassed Detroit Edison's previous 1992 peak -- 7,871,000 kW set June 17. Demand climbed on an hourly basis and probably will continue to build until 5 p.m. when temperatures and business demand drop.
The all-time and August record of 9,133,000 kW was set Aug. 2, 1988.
