DETROIT EDISON POSTS SIXTH CONSECUTIVE SALES INCREASE
DETROIT EDISON POSTS SIXTH CONSECUTIVE SALES INCREASE DETROIT, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- An early start to the winter
heating season lifted Detroit Edison (NYSE: DTE) to its sixth consecutive monthly sales increase.
Residential use and total company sales of 3.31 billion kilowatthours (kWh) set October records. Total sales for October were 0.1 percent higher than the same month last year. Year-to-date sales of 34.56 billion kWh were 1.1 percent higher than the same period last year. More heating-degree days in early October spurred residential sales of 882 million kWh, a 2.5-percent increase compared with 1990. Residential sales also were helped by more than 12,000 new customers. The weather did not translate into higher commercial sales, which stayed even with October 1990 sales of 715 million kWh. Industrial sales continued to be affected by a stagnant economy, which has lowered steel and automobile production. Sales of 1.57 billion kWh to industrial customers represented a 2.1-percent decrease from last year. -0- 11/13/91 /CONTACT: Scott L. Simons, 313-237-8808, or Lorie N.
