DETROIT AND NATIONAL AUTO DEALER ASSOCIATIONS DONATE CPR TRAINING MANNEQUINS TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS

TROY, Mich., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) and the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) donated six CPR training mannequins to three local organizations in formal ceremonies Thursday at the DADA. The CPR units were donated through the NADA Charitable Foundation. Recipients of the mannequins were the American Heart Association of Michigan (Crittenton Hospital training center in Rochester and the Addison Township Fire Department training center in Leonard), The American Red Cross - Southeastern Michigan Chapter, and The Salvation Army Echo Grove Summer Camps (two units for the summer program for children through adults).
The presentations were made by William Ritchie, NADA director and owner of Crest Lincoln-Mercury in Sterling Heights, and Rod Alberts, executive vice president of the DADA.
The NADA and the DADA realize the critical importance of the proper use of CPR techniques in emergency situations. They hope to increase awareness of the necessity of CPR education and in turn increase the number of people trained in CPR lifesaving techniques.
"CPR saves lives. It is estimated that proper CPR techniques could save between 100,000 and 200,000 lives each year in North America," stated Ritchie. Alberts added, "The more people that are licensed to perform CPR, the more lives will be saved. We want to do whatever we can to help training centers to provide more opportunities for people to learn CPR techniques."
The NADA headquarters is in McLean, Va. The association represents over 19,000 franchised new car and truck dealers across the United States. The DADA represents over 240 such dealers in the metro Detroit area.
