DIDIER DESCHAMPS has placed France on red alert for Icelandic air assaults.

The French coach watched Iceland equalise against England after a long throw caused chaos in the penalty area moments after going in front.

Former Chelsea favourite Deschamps warned: "We know they often use low, straight throw-ins with well-defined positioning because that's something they've been repeating match after match.

"We will take measures to limit the effect of that aspect of their game. When they have a throw-in 30 or 40 metres from goal, it's the equivalent of a set-piece."

Iceland are happy to give u possession and area physical, compact outfit who make the most of their own resources, reckons the France boss.

"They don't get that many corners in a game and they compensate by using the throw-in as a set piece," he added.

Deschamps is not just focusing on throws.

He said: "They have quality players who can also play on the ground with combinations."
