DENVER NUGGETS COACH HELPS NBA SALUTE THE LEGACY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.
NEW YORK, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Basketball Association will join the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday Commission in saluting the life and legacy of Dr. King at an awards luncheon, Monday, January 10, at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington D.C. at 12:00 Noon. Denver Nuggets coach Dan Issel, joined by Attorney General Janet Reno, U.S. Congressman Ralph Regula (R-OH) and Director of the FBI, Louis Freeh, will be among those giving remarks. COMSAT Corporation, an international communications, information and entertainment-distribution services company based in Bethesda, Md., owns the Denver Nuggets. In commemoration of Dr. King and in recognition of this holiday, the NBA has produced a new public service announcement featuring the theme "Remember, Celebrate, and Act" with NBA Head Coaches Dan Issel (Denver), Don Chaney (Detroit), and John Lucas (San Antonio), and historical footage of Dr. King. The 30-second PSA will be shown at the lunch, followed by its national debut on the NBA game telecast on Turner Network Television (TNT) Friday, January 14 (Los Angeles Clippers at Boston). In addition, the PSA will air on TNT and NBC game telecasts throughout January.
