DENTO-MED SIGNS SUSAN RAFAJ MARKETING TO INTRODUCE SKIN CARE PRODUCTS BASED ON PATENTED NEW MOISTURIZING TECHNOLOGY

BOCA RATON, Fla., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Dento-Med Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: DTMD) has contracted with Susan M. Rafaj Marketing Services Inc. to help the company prepare its consumer marketing program, and both short- and long-term distribution strategies for a new line of skin care products. The New York-based full-service agency is a specialist in cosmetic marketing that has helped introduce prestige segment products for more than a dozen of the industry's largest international cosmetic and fragrance manufacturers.
According to John Charles Revson, Dento-Med's marketing consultant, SMR will focus on competitive analysis and market research, market planning, product positioning and line extensions, packaging, logo and display design, distribution, merchandising/sales promotion and advertising.
SMR founder and president Susan M. Rafaj has over 20 years' experience in cosmetics and skin care marketing, new product development, retail operations and business management. She has established and managed department, specialty and drug store as well as broad retail channels of distribution, for both cosmetic industry clients and while holding executive marketing positions with such companies as Revlon, Helena Rubenstein and Shiseido. Rafaj is a member of the board of directors of the Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors Association, and is former executive director of the American Beauty Association.
SMR has put together a marketing team for Dento-Med that also includes John Collier, executive vice president and creative director; Mitchell Bierman, executive vice president, management supervisor; Amy Reiner, vice president of marketing/new product development; Barbara Chomko, vice president of account services; and Cathi Stoler, copy director. They will work closely with Revson, who has 20 years of product management and marketing experience with Revlon, the company his family founded.
Dento-Med has developed a new moisturizing technology based on the company's patented Hydron(R) polymer emulsification process. Hydron is the self-moisturizing ingredient used in most soft contact lenses, to keep them soft and pliant. Dento-Med's patented technology allows the ingredient to be used in skin care and cosmetic products for the first time. The company has the exclusive right to develop these types of products using Hydron polymers.
Dento-Med's skin care collection includes an all-day hand and body moisturizer, daytime and nighttime facial moisturizers, sunscreen and sports cream lotions, and a self-tanning moisturizer. Planned line extensions include an eye gel, a cleanser and a skin toner.
Dento-Med's first product marketed to consumers is its Hydron Plus(TM) Hand & Body Moisturizer, available through direct response cable television advertising featuring product spokesperson Cheryl Ladd. The commercials were created by DTR (Direct to Retail) Associated Limited Partnership of Boston. DTR has just begun test marketing the product for Dento-Med with select mass merchandise and chain drug store retailers in several geographic areas. The test market is designed to gauge product interest generated by the existing advertising program, which has aired nationally since October 1992.
