DENDRITE INTERNATIONAL SHINES BRIGHT IN A GLOOMY ECONOMY
WARREN, N.J. March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- While for most companies 1991 was a year to forget, for Dendrite International 1991 was the best year in the company's history. Dendrite's banner year was marked by explosive sales growth and organizational expansion.
Today, just six years after its entry into the market, Dendrite International is the number-one supplier of field force automation technology and services to the pharmaceutical industry. Dendrite's field force automation system puts computers, software and value-added support services into the hands of representatives and managers so they can maximize their productivity and sales performance. In 1991, Dendrite International was propelled to a leadership position by new contracts with Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and Bayer in various countries around the world.
Founded in Australia in 1986, Dendrite rapidly established a worldwide presence, soon moving its global headquarters to the United States, in Warren. As part of a major expansion plan, Dendrite added nearly 80 new employees to its fast-growing staff in 1991 alone. With 200 employees now at work in offices located in nine countries including the United Kingdom, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, France, Italy and Germany, the company plans to hire 50 more employees in 1992, with no end to growth in sight.
Nearly 10 years ago John Bailye, Dendrite's founder and president, was one of the first to recognize the potential for the use of field- force automation technology within the intensely competitive, heavily regulated pharmaceutical industry. He decided to build a business that combines the most highly functional custom-designed software technology with a customer-driven focus to help the health care industry maximize sales and marketing performance.
Dendrite's approach to field force automation equips sales representatives with laptop computers, which are linked to a powerful host mainframe computer. Dendrite's custom software makes it easy for sales representatives and their managers to plan their sales strategy, target and track customers calls, record expenses, account for samples, send and receive electronic mail to and from the home office, follow the progress of clinical studies, and much more.
Dendrite's results speak for themselves. Clients have reported significant increases in sales force productivity and significantly greater efficiencies in two-way communication with field sales representatives about important marketing and regulatory information. Dendrite's client list includes more than 40 if the world's largest pharmaceutical companies.
"We focus on combining the best-performing, user friendly technology with excellent service, and tailoring our technology and service to the specific needs of each of our clients," said Bailye. "Our customer focus has been the key to our success and continues to be the top priority of every Dendrite employee."
To that end, Dendrite customizes its software system to the specifications of each of its clients. The company also offers a wide range of services to assure that the sales and marketing system delivers on its promise of improved performance for sales representatives and marketing managers.
