DELTA QUEEN SIGNS CONTRACT FOR THIRD STEAMBOAT

 NEW ORLEANS, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Delta Queen Steamboat Co. (NASDAQ: DQSB) today announced it has completed the initial planning and value-engineering phases for the construction of its third paddlewheel steamboat. As expected, the company has signed a final construction contract with McDermott Shipbuilding, Morgan City, La.
 The vessel, which will carry 420 passengers, will be the largest paddlewheel steamboat ever to ply the rivers of North America. The steamboat is scheduled to be completed within 20 to 24 months, and is expected to make its inaugural passenger voyage in April 1995. Total cost of the project is expected to be $60 million.
 The Delta Queen Steamboat Co., headquartered in New Orleans, is the only provider of overnight paddlewheel steamboat vacations in North America. The company owns The Delta Queen and The Mississippi Queen, paddlewheel steamboats which annually carry more than 35,000 passengers, and the Maison Dupuy Hotel in New Orleans' French Quarter.
