 DELTA AIR LINES SETS MONTHLY BOARDING RECORDS THROUGHOUT COUNTRY;
 BARGAIN AIRFARES SPUR TRAVEL
 ATLANTA, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) set new June boarding records in dozens of cities across the United States, reflecting a substantial increase in travel resulting from discount airfares purchased early in the summer.
 In addition, a number of Delta cities established new all-time monthly boarding records, enplaning more travelers in June than in any calendar month ever.
 "Delta is encouraged by the record numbers of passengers flying with us this summer," said Al Kolakowski, the airline's senior vice president - sales. "The recent 50 percent off sale has brought millions of leisure travelers into the air, and we are hopeful that these many new and previously infrequent flyers will become regular Delta customers as they experience the benefits and conveniences of our award-winning service."
 The airline, which serves 222 cities in 34 countries around the world, set June boarding records in such cities as Billings, Casper, Columbus (Ohio), Denver, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell, Newark, Reno, San Francisco, Sarasota, Seattle, and West Palm Beach. Also, Albany (New York), Allentown, Atlanta, Austin, Baton Rouge, Charleston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Colorado Springs, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Fresno, Grand Rapids, Greenville/Spartanburg, Houston (Hobby Airport), Huntsville, Idaho Falls, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Knoxville, Las Vegas, Melbourne (Florida), Milwaukee, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Mobile, Nashville, Newburgh (New York), Norfolk, Oakland, Oklahoma City, Orange County (California), Orlando, Pensacola, Pitt (Dulles) and Wichita were among the airports recording more Delta boardings in June than in any calendar month ever.
 Several cities posted boarding marks dramatically higher than previous records. Preliminary figures indicate that Delta boarded more than 75,000 more passengers in Dallas/Ft. Worth in June than in any previous month, while Cincinnati passenger boardings rose by approximately 60,000 over the old record month, reflecting a more than 17 percent increase. June boardings in Atlanta were 175,000 higher than the former record set in March of this year, as Delta enplaned more than 1.5 million in the Georgia city last month. Delta cities that are not hub operations also saw sizeable new records set in June. Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C., boarded in excess of 33 percent more passengers than its previous record month. Orange County (California) and Raleigh/Durham set new marks with 25 percent and 17 percent increases over former records.
 Delta is a major world airline, with 563 modern aircraft operating 2,844 flights each day around the globe. Delta recently was named by the readers of the Robb Report in that magazine's "Best of the Best" survey as having the best first class service of any airline in the world.
