DELTA AIR LINES POWERED BY OVER 1,000 PRATT & WHITNEY ENGINES
ATLANTA, Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Airlines (NYSE: DAL) was honored by Pratt & Whitney (P&W) on becoming only the third airline in the world to have more than 1,000 P&W engines in service. No other engine-maker can claim this milestone.
    Currently, Pratt & Whitney engines power Delta's 727s, 737s, DC-9s, MD-80s, MD-11s, 757s, 767s and A310s. Delta is now the number one user of P&W's commercial engines.
"Delta has become a global airline," said Gordon L. Smith, Pratt & Whitney's vice-president for domestic marketing. "We're extremely proud to be an integral part of its international growth," Smith added.
Pratt & Whitney recognized "Delta Goes Global" as part of the "1,000th engine" ceremonies last night in Atlanta. Nicholas R. Tomassetti, executive vice president of Pratt & Whitney's Commercial engine business congratulated the people of Delta. "This business is much more than airplanes and engines," Tomassetti said. "This business is a people business. It's people working together. It's people caring about one another. People make Delta the leader it is today. We salute each and every one of you," Tomassetti said.
Pratt & Whitney is a unit of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE: UTX) based in Hartford, Conn.
