 DELTA AIR BOARD STREAMLINES MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE;
 PROMOTES AND REASSIGNS OFFICERS
 ATLANTA, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL), at their regular meeting in Atlanta, merged two divisions, eliminated a senior vice president position, promoted a number of officers into previously unfilled positions, and reassigned others effective Aug. 1, 1992.
 Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Ronald W. Allen announced these board actions. He said, "This streamlining of the present management structure eliminates the position of senior vice president - sales and by merging two divisions, enhances an already lean and aggressive organization. This strengthens our focus on hands-on leadership that is in close contact with the Delta personnel located worldwide."
 In outlining the details of the board's actions, Allen explained that in each case Delta's time-proven promotion from within policy had produced the highly-qualified individuals who were ready to assume their new duties. Also, he called attention to the fact that in keeping with Delta's commitment to lower its staffing, these actions reduced the number of senior vice presidents by one and all promotions are replacements.
 The new Marketing Division combines the Marketing Development and Planning Division and the Sales Division. Senior Vice President Robert W. Coggin, a 36-year Delta veteran, will head the new division.
 Three assistant vice presidents were promoted to vice president: W. Martin Braham becomes vice president - airport customer service; Captain H.D. Greenberg becomes vice president - flight operations, and Jenny R. Poole is vice president - in-flight service.
 Reassignments announced by the board were A.H. Kolakowski from senior vice president - sales to vice president - marketing services; William Thomas Bell from vice president - airport customer service to vice president - airport customer service administration; and Russell J. Gariota from assistant vice president - sales to assistant vice president - airport sales and services.
 "These promotions and reassignments put in place the people and the management structure necessary to support all the Delta people with the leadership so critical at this time in Delta's and the airline industry's history," Allen remarked.
 Allen also announced that separate from the board actions, C.A. "Tommy" Thompson, senior vice president - airport customer service, has announced his retirement effective Sept. 1, 1992. He said, "Tommy will celebrate his 40th anniversary with Delta this August 22nd, capping a career in which he has contributed immensely to the success of Delta. We will miss Tommy and wish him all the best for a happy, healthy and long retirement."
