DELTA AIR'S SUMMER SCHEDULE FEATURES MORE SERVICE BETWEEN
THE U.S. AND EUROPE THAN ANY OTHER WORLD CARRIER
Summer Expansion Includes New European Nonstops from New York
ATLANTA, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL), with 277 flights each week across the Atlantic beginning this summer, will offer more service between the U.S. and Europe than any other airline in the world.
The airline announced today that its summer expansion begins on Friday, May 1, with the inauguration of nonstop service to Vienna from Kennedy Airport in New York. Delta's June schedule features nonstop service to 23 European cities from 10 U.S. gateways.
"Not only does Delta already operate service to more European cities than any other U.S. airline, but we also will offer more total flights between the U.S. and Europe than any other carrier anywhere," said Harold Achtziger, the airline's vice president - international. "Delta's schedule will surpass that of its nearest competitor by approximately 40 flights each week, and no other American airline can offer nonstop service to Europe from as many U.S. cities. Delta is clearly THE airline for summer travel to Europe."
Delta currently serves Europe nonstop from gateways in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Detroit, Miami, New York, Orlando and Washington, D.C., and will add nonstop service to Frankfurt from both Los Angeles and Newark in the coming weeks. In addition to the New York to Vienna flights, the carrier will begin serving Budapest, Copenhagen and Helsinki nonstop from its Kennedy Flight Center in New York beginning in May. Delta also will offer continuing or connecting service to 13 other cities in Europe, India and the Middle East, including St. Petersburg, Russia, where Delta begins service on May 8.
Delta's June schedule brings to 2,842 the number of flights the airline will operate each day to 222 cities in 34 countries around the world. Delta has the best overall record of passenger satisfaction of any major U.S. airline, based on consumer complaint statistics compiled by the U.S. Department of Transportation since 1971.
