DELPHI FINANCIAL GROUP APPOINTS ROBERT L. POSNAK VICE CHAIRMAN
WILMINGTON, Del., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi Financial Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: DLFI) today announced that Robert L. Posnak has joined the company as vice chairman.
Posnak will be responsible for growth strategies of the company, primarily focusing upon acquisition opportunities.
Prior to joining Delphi, Posnak headed Ernst & Young's insurance practice, including its insurance auditing, tax, actuarial and consulting activities. In his 28 years with Ernst & Young, he helped build that firm's insurance practice into one of the largest in the country, covering more than 30 percent of the U.S. domestic industry. He was instrumental in the development of generally accepted accounting principles for the life insurance industry and is the author of "GAAP -- Stock Life Insurance Companies," the only comprehensive textbook on the subject.
In commenting on the appointment, Robert Rosenkranz, chairman and chief executive officer, said, "I consider Bob Posnak's appointment a coup for Delphi. He has run a large professional practice, is widely known and respected in the industry, and has worked closely with us evaluating acquisition opportunities in the past. His business acumen, analytical skills and industry contacts should make a major contribution to our acquisition strategy, as well as to the day-to-day operations of our existing insurance company subsidiaries."
Posnak attended Dartmouth College and received his MBA from California State University. His professional designations include certified public accountant, chartered life underwriter and fellow of the Life Management Institute. He is a current member of the International Insurance Society and is an elector for the Insurance Hall of Fame.
Delphi Financial Group, Inc. is an insurance holding company that underwrites, through its subsidiaries, a portfolio of life, long-term disability and personal accident insurance, targeted principally to the employee benefit market, and annuities and guaranteed investment contracts throughout the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
