DELPHAX SYSTEMS INTRODUCES A NEW FAMILY OF HIGH-SPEED
CANTON, Mass., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphax Systems, the privately held $47 million developer of high-speed page printing systems, today introduced the ImageFast Series 180, a new family of dual engine high-speed non-impact printers for high-volume printing applications. The ImageFast Series 180 showcases Delphax's new X-90 engines incorporating Electron Beam Imaging (EBI), the company's patented electron-based imaging process. It includes the ImageFast Series 180 IE, the world's fastest cut-sheet printer with IBM AFP IPDS (Advanced Function Printing and Intelligent Printer Data Stream) emulation, and the ImageFast Series 180 LE with enhanced IBM 3211 emulation or Dataproducts B1500 emulation.
"The ImageFast Series product family delivers a new level of print quality and high-speed performance to the world of electronic printing," said Alex Cimochowski, president and chief executive officer of Delphax Systems. "The ImageFast Series will be a market leader in terms of AFP cut-sheet throughput and supports our strategic goal of building reliable products that deliver high-quality output -- fast. We firmly believe that the ImageFast Series products will now be the solution of choice for high-volume applications with time-critical print windows."
The ImageFast Series 180 is designed for high reliability and maximum uptime. It utilizes an imaging process that involves only about half as many moving parts as comparable laser printers and features a streamlined paper path. In the ImageFast Series, Delphax has also combined for the first time, electron beam imaging with flash fusing to produce superb print qulity output and an extremely high degree of image performance. The World's Fastest Cut-Sheet AFP Printer
Highlighting the new product family is the ImageFast Series 180 IE, the world's fastest cut-sheet printer with AFP IPDS emulation. Products in this series are designed for connection to IBM computers running the popular VM or MVS operating systems.
The ImageFast Series 180 IE has a rated throughput of up to 180 duplex impressions per minute, which is nearly two times faster than the fastest comparable AFP IPDS cut-sheet printer.
The ImageFast Series 180 IE offers significant benefits to data processing centers that have invested in the AFP IPDS protocols. By being 100 percent AFP plug-compatible it can be located anywhere within an AFP enterprise. It also gives users the flexibility to continue using existing IBM font libraries or take advantage of Delphax's extensive range of fonts. ImageFast Series 180 LE: Field-Upgradable to AFP Compatibility
Data centers that have not yet adopted AFP can still take advantage of the speed, reliability and print quality of the ImageFast Series 180. Delphax Systems' new product family includes the ImageFast Series 180 LE, with enhanced IBM 3211 or Dataproducts B1500 line printer emulation. This product is field upgradable to full AFP compatibility, making it a flexible option for data centers that are planning to invest in AFP in the future.
Both ImageFast Series 180 emulations (AFP/IPDS and line printer) enable the products to handle all points addressable (APA) printing, making them ideal for high-volume, high-speed applications that require graphics, landscape or portrait printing, and electronic forms.
Delphax believes the primary printing applications for the ImageFast Series products will be applications with time-critical print windows, including statements, billing forms, inventory reports, checks, direct mail, newsletters, financial reports and manuals. Key Features and Benefits of the ImageFast Series
Key Features and benefits of the ImageFast Series 180 products can be summarized as follows:
-- Unmatched cut-sheet throughput: Up to 180 duplex impressions per minute or 90 simplex impressions per minute, made possible by Delphax' unique dual print engine design and a simplified paper path. This throughput advantage will help data centers reduce the turnaround for time-critical print jobs, thereby significantly improving overall productivity.
-- Technically more reliable than high-speed laser printers: ImageFast Series 180 printers are based on Delphax' patented four-step Electron Beam Imaging process. This process uses no prisms or mirrors, has only about half as many moving parts as competitive laser printers, and utilizes a streamlined paper path.
-- Print quality equal to or greater than comparable non-impact printers: The Electron Beam Imaging process, in combination with flash fusing (a post-imaging process that ensures an extremely high degree of image permanence), provides the ImageFast Series 180 with superb image quality for a broad range of applications.
-- Easy to Operate: Ergonomically designed, with printer-based functions invoked through a menu-driven console, and diagnostics, print tests and moving the printer on and off line controlled from a terminal.
-- Comprehensive diagnostics: Including error isolation, error reporting and data integrity features.
-- Space-efficient footprint: Based on a "wrap-around" design to put all components within easy reach and minimize the consumption of precious data center floorspace. Pricing and Availability
The ImageFast Series 180 IE carries a list price of $235,000. The list price of the ImageFast Series 180 LE is $210,000. The field upgrade price to full AFP IPDS capability for the Series LE is $35,000. All pricing is $US.
Availability of both the ImageFast Series 180 IE and LE is immediate.
