DELPHAX SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES POSTSCRIPT CAPABILITY ON ITS IMAGEFAST SERIES 180 DUAL ENGINE PRINTING PLATFORM

 CANTON, Mass., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphax Systems, a privately- held developer of high-speed electronic printing systems, today announced PostScript(TM) capability for its ImageFast Series 180 line of high-speed page printing systems.
 The ImageFast Series 180 dual engine, cut-sheet platform is designed for high-volume, time-critical, value printing applications. The new ImageFast Series 180 PS prints at up to 180 impressions per minute (ipm) in duplex (double-sided) mode, offers in-line MICR capability and features full PostScript Level II compatibility. The ImageFast Series 180 PS is designed as a network attached printer, although it can run stand-alone, and combines 300 x 300 dots per inch (dpi) resolution with dual Electron Beam Imaging (EBI) engines and flash fusing to ensure superb print quality and a high degree of image permanence.
 The ImageFast Series 180 PS is designed with an operator friendly Graphics User Interface (GUI) to enable the operator to simply and easily control numerous printer functions. Features include full service utilities; operator help screens; full job control, including the ability to change job resumption point; and centralized control of multiple printers via a virtual window.
 According to Alex Cimochowski, president and CEO of Delphax Systems, the announcement of PostScript capability for the ImageFast product line supports the company's strategic goal of offering a wide variety of architecture and hardware solutions for the company's high-speed printing systems.

 Configuration
 The ImageFast Series 180 PS configuration includes the printer hardware and the SPARC(TM) workstation front end. It is designed to be network attached, but can be used in standalone mode.
 MICR Capability
 The ImageFast Series 180 PS offers full in-line MICR capability. MICR fonts are available through the Delphax MICR Kit which provides a complete MICR solution for the Delphax ImageFast and ColorFast printing systems. The MICR kit includes the MICR font, verification equipment, pre-sales consultation and post-sales operator training by Delphax MICR specialists.
 Applications
 Delphax believes that the primary applications for the ImageFast Series 180 PS will be high-volume, time-critical applications such as billing and statements and short run publishing applications like booklets and manuals.
 Options
 Options include a touch screen terminal and 2500 sheet auxiliary stacker.
 Availability
 ImageFast Series 180 PS will be available for first customer shipment in Q1, 1994.
 Pricing
 The ImageFast Series 180 PS pricing is via request for price quote (RPQ).
 Distribution
 The ImageFast Series 180 PS will be available through Delphax's direct sales force. However, the company is also actively seeking systems integrators and other value added resellers who would be interested in a joint marketing partnership for the product.
