DELPHAX ANNOUNCES THE IMAGEFAST SERIES 850 LE THE WORLD'S FASTEST DUPLEX ELECTRONIC PRINTING SYSTEM

CANTON, Mass., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphax Systems, a privately-held developer of high-speed electronic printing systems, today announced the expansion of its ImageFast family to include the ImageFast Series 850 LE, the world's fastest duplex electronic printing system. The company also introduced a simplex version, the ImageFast Series 425 LE that is field upgradeable to duplex at a later date. These two new systems join the ImageFast Series 180 IE and LE cut-sheet printers and the ImageFast Series 300/240/190/150 IE and LE roll-fed models introduced last year.
The ImageFast Series 850 LE is designed for super high-volume production print applications where high-reliability and tight print windows are the rule. Running at a speed of 300 feet per minute, the ImageFast Series 850 can print at up to 850 (8.5" x 11") impressions per minute (ipm) in duplex, (double-sided) mode.
Printing in 2-across, duplex mode, the ImageFast Series 850 LE enables a dramatic increase in throughput while simultaneously reducing printing costs.
The ImageFast Series 850 LE features dual in-line Electron Beam Imaging (EBI) engines with both flash fusing and pressure fusing (hydraulic control) to ensure superb print quality and a high degree of image permanence.
 Available in Simplex Version
For high-volume simplex applications, the ImageFast Series 850 LE will be available in a simplex version. The ImageFast Series 425 LE prints 425 simplex impressions per minute and incorporates all the features and functions of the ImageFast Series 850 LE. For customers whose future plans include migration to duplex print applications, the ImageFast Series 425 LE is field upgradeable to full duplex capability.
 Paper Handling Options
The ImageFast Series 850 LE features a host of paper and paper handling options, providing a wide variety of output solutions. With a web width of up to 18", the ImageFast Series 850 LE can be configured with a variety of paper stocks including 16 to 28 lb. bond and 100 to 125 lb. tag stock. Output options include sheet, roll or fan fold capability.
 MICR
All ImageFast Series printers feature in-line MICR capability. MICR testing on the ImageFast Series 850 LE is currently in process and the company expects to release full MICR capability on the product in 1994, thereby providing an ultra high-speed MICR solution for high-volume billing, statement and check printing applications. For optimum MICR performance, Delphax recently developed the Delphax MICR Kit for use with the company's ImageFast and ColorFast printing systems. The MICR Kit provides a complete MICR solution including, the MICR font, verification equipment, pre-sales consultation and post-sales operator training by trained Delphax MICR specialists.
 Color Option
The ImageFast Series 850 LE can be configured to include a wide array of optional in-line letterpress color solutions. Adding optional color stations enables users to add color to their documents on demand, reducing, or eliminating, the need to purchase and inventory costly pre-printed forms.
 Post-Processing Options
The ImageFast Series 850 LE can be configured with a variety of post- processing options to provide a complete high-speed Host-to-Post mailing solution.
 Applications
Delphax believes that the primary applications for the ImageFast Series 850 LE will be very high-volume billing, statements and checks. By adding optional color stations, customers can further enhance the value of their documents by applying color to clarify or focus attention. Additional applications would include any high-volume, production printing applications with very tight print windows.

The ImageFast Series 850 LE will be available in Q2, 1994.
