DELMARVA POWER STOCKHOLDERS ELECT THREE NEW DIRECTORS

 WILMINGTON, Del., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Delmarva Power & Light Company (NYSE: DEW) stockholders today elected Michael G. Abercrombie, Robert D. Burris, and James H. Gilliam Jr. to fill three vacancies on the power company's board of directors, effective immediately.
 Abercrombie, 53, is president of Cato, Inc. in Salisbury, Md. He joined Cato as its executive vice president in 1969. He became president in 1973. Cato is a petroleum distributorship serving consumer accounts throughout the Delmarva Peninsula.
 Abercrombie is active in industry and community affairs. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.
 Burris, 48, is president of Burris Foods, Inc. in Milford, Del. He joined Burris Foods, Inc. on a full-time basis in 1966. He became president of the company in 1980. Burris Foods is a family-owned, refrigerated-food distribution company that operates five distribution centers and a fleet of refrigerated transportation equipment throughout the eastern United States.
 Burris serves on the boards of a number of non-profit organizations and businesses in Delaware. He is a graduate of the University of Delaware.
 Gilliam, 48, was elected to the board, by the board of directors, effective Jan. 1, 1993. He is a director, executive vice president, and general counsel of Beneficial Corporation in Wilmington, Del. He joined Beneficial in 1979 after serving in the cabinet of the Governor of Delaware.
 Gilliam is active in the community, serving as a board member and trustee of a number of businesses and educational institutions. He is a graduate of Morgan State University and the Columbia Law School.
 The following directors are retiring from Delmarva's board of directors: John R. Cooper, a director since 1981, Nevius M. Curtis, a director since 1979, Donald W. Mabe, a director since 1986, and David D. Wakefield, a director since 1984.
