 DELMARVA POWER PROMOTES ENERGY AWARENESS MONTH
 WILMINGTON, Del., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Delmarva Power


(NYSE: DEW) will kick off Energy Awareness Month by hosting its first annual "5K Energy Awareness Challenge," Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Brandywine Zoo/Josephine Gardens, Wilmington.
 In addition to a 5K run and walk, there will be a 2.1 mile walk option. Starting times for the 2.1 mile walk, and the 5K walk/run are 6:10 and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
 There will be a kick-off ceremony near the Brandywine Zoo at 6 p.m. Other activities include energy and environmental displays, a remote broadcast by WSTW Radio, and post-race refreshments. Each participant will receive an "Energy Challenge" T-shirt. Registration prior to Sept. 27 is $8, and day of-the-race registration, starting at 5:30 p.m., is $10. Senior citizens and children under 12 can register for half- price. Contact Marathon Sports at 302-654-6400 for entry forms and other information.
 "Delmarva Power believes in informed consumer choice and this can be accomplished through consumer education and awareness events such as the 'Challenge,'" said Marty Duffy, manager, consumer and community relations, Delmarva Power.
 The "5K Energy Awareness Challenge" is part of Delmarva Power's "Serving and Conserving Delmarva" environmental stewardship program, which is designed to balance the company's obligation to provide reliable service while protecting and enhancing the environment of the Delmarva Peninsula. All proceeds from the "Challenge" will help expand the Andean Condor exhibit at the Brandywine Zoo.
