DELMARVA POWER GIVES BOOST TO NEW CASTLE COUNTY POLICE

WILMINGTON, Del., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Delmarva Power and the New Castle County Police announced today the release of a new videotape called "Community Policing -- A Partnership in Crime Prevention."
The program is hosted by John Walsh of Fox Television's show "America's Most Wanted." The video is designed to encourage citizens and businesses to participate in crime prevention programs to increase the quality of life in New Castle County, Del.
"Delmarva Power was pleased to support the New Castle County Police through a partnership that was created by the Radio Watch Program," said Howard Cosgrove, chief executive officer of Delmarva Power. "We were particularly pleased to participate in this effort. Safety is a top issue at Delmarva Power, both in the workplace and in the community."
"The philosophy of law enforcement has been changing over the past 10 years to include more support from citizens and businesses," said Col. Thomas P. Gordon, chief of the New Castle County Police Department. "In this case Delmarva Power provided valuable assistance in completing this task. For crime prevention programs to be successful, the residential and business communities must help. We are confident that this videotape will promote the importance of this responsibility."
The video highlights participation in three programs: Community Watch, Block Watch and Radio Watch. It also features other New Castle County Police efforts, such as Community Patrol Offices and the Citizens' Police Academy.
The videotape will be shown to community groups, civic associations and businesses by the New Castle County Police to increase public support for and participation in each of these programs.
