 DELMARVA POWER ELECTS HOWARD COSGROVE
 CHAIRMAN AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
 WILMINGTON, Del., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Delmarva Power & Light Company (NYSE: DEW) today elected Howard E. Cosgrove chairman and chief executive officer of the company, effective Oct. 1, 1992.
 He is currently president and chief operating officer and will retain these positions.
 Cosgrove, 49, began his career with Delmarva Power in 1966 as an industrial engineer in the marketing department. From 1975 through 1979, he was manager of financial planning and analysis. In late 1979, he was elected vice president of finance and accounting and chief financial officer. In 1984, Cosgrove was elected senior vice president of operations and engineering, and in 1985, he was elected executive vice president. In 1991, he was elected president and chief operating officer. Since 1986, he has been a member of the board of directors of Delmarva Power and responsible for operations.
 A graduate of Bohemia Manor High School in Chesapeake City, Md., he received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia and a master's of business administration from the University of Delaware. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.
 Cosgrove is a trustee of the Medical Center of Delaware, the Delaware Foundation for Retarded Children, and the University of Delaware Research Foundation. He is a past chairman of the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Committee, past vice chairman of United Way of Delaware, and a past member of the Delaware State School Board.
 He is married to the former Joyce Olewine, and they have two daughters.
 Nevius M. Curtis, 62, current chairman and chief executive officer, announced that he plans to retire on Oct. 1, 1992.
