DELL ANNOUNCES NORWEGIAN SUBSIDIARY; EXPANDS BENELUX OPERATIONS
AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadening its presence in the Scandinavian market, Dell Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: DELL) today announced the opening of a wholly owned operating subsidiary in Norway. The company also announced today the expansion of its Benelux operations to include a new sales office in Belgium.
Located in Oslo, Norway, the Norwegian subsidiary will provide the complete range of value-added customer services that have made Dell successful in the United States and other countries, including custom- configuration of personal computers; manufacturer-direct technical support; next-business-day, on-site service; and factory software integration. Dell Norway broadens the company's existing Scandinavian operations which include Dell's flagship Swedish office, announced in February 1990 and located in Stockholm, and Dell Finland which opened in Helsinki during April of this year.

International sales are an increasingly important element of Dell's overall corporate growth. The company currently has a well-developed international base, with more than 750 employees located in subsidiaries or sales offices in 14 countries outside of the United States. Dell's international business has grown from four percent of total sales in fiscal year 1988 to 34 percent in fiscal year 1991, while total corporate revenue has grown from $153 to $546 million respectively. The company currently has international operating subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden.
Dell Norway is headed by general manager Ragnar Skaug. Skaug has more than 18 years experience in the high-tech industry and has worked in several managerial positions for such companies as Esselte, Kontorsutveckling and Wang Computer Systems.
Dell Opens Sales Office in Belgium.
With the company's announcement of Dell Benelux in April of this year, Dell became the first direct-marketing personal computer company to enter Europe's sixth largest market for PC systems. Located in Amsterdam, Dell Benelux serves Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Today, Dell opened an additional sales and support office in Asse Zellik (near Brussels), Belgium to provide Belgian and Luxembourg customers with a local source for direct assistance in the purchase of Dell systems.
Mathieu A. W. Loyen, who has more than 20 years experience in the information technology industry, heads the Benelux subsidiary. The Belgium sales office will be managed by D. Servadio, sales manager large accounts, and C. de Wit, sales manager Dell direct.
