DELL ANNOUNCES FACTORY INSTALLATION OF LATEST VERSION OF IBM OS/2

 LAS VEGAS, Nov. 15, /PRNewswire/ -- Dell Computer (NASDAQ: DELL) today reaffirmed its commitment to IBM's (NYSE: IBM) Operating System/2 (OS/2) by announcing that it is now offering factory-installation of Version 2.1 on its personal computers. The software is available immediately starting at $179, pre-installed on Dell's performance line computers, including the 486-based OptiPlex and NetPlex desktops and Dell's XE family of 486- and Pentium-based servers.
 "Dell customers will be able to order their system with pre- installed OS/2 2.1 and also benefit from the flexibility of running any DOS, Windows or OS/2 application on their system," said Sue King, Dell's director of software marketing development and business planning. New features of IBM OS/2 Version 2.1 include Microsoft Windows 3.1 support, improved video performance, multimedia enhancements and new printer drivers. Dell has also added driver support for the Dell SCSI Array (DSA), a high-performance, dual-channel SCSI array controller for advanced server systems.
