DEIRDRE SAUNDERS TO BECOME TREASURER OF AMETEK

 PAOLI, Pa., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Deirdre Saunders will become treasurer of Ametek, Inc. (NYSE: AME) in April, succeeding Robert Yannarell, who will become secretary of the corporation at that time, it was announced today by Allan Kornfeld, Ametek executive vice president and chief financial officer.
 Saunders, 45, currently assistant treasurer of Ametek, received her bachelor's degree from George Washington University in 1969 and an MBA from Temple University in 1977. She joined Ametek in 1987 after serving in a number of financial and treasury positions with Exide Corporation and Buckeye Pipe Line Company. Saunders lives with her husband, Morton, in Gladwyne, Pa.
 Yannarell, 59, has served as Ametek's treasurer since 1987 and previously as director of Internal Audit. Yannarell, a St. Joseph's College graduate, has been with Ametek for more than 37 years. He will succeed Wallace E. Cowan, 68, as secretary. Cowan, who is a senior partner with the law firm of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan and a member of Ametek's board of directors, will retire as secretary in April 1993.
 This Fortune 500 industrial manufacturer, with 32 manufacturing plants and more than 6,200 employees worldwide, has sales of more than $750 million. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 1930, Ametek has increased dividend payments to its shareholders for 43 consecutive years.
