 DEE ALLEN APPOINTED PONTIAC DIVISION PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTOR
 PONTIAC, Mich., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The appointment of Darwin E. Allen as public relations director of the Pontiac Division has been announced by Pontiac Division General Manager John G. Middlebrook.
 Formerly media relations director for the Chevrolet-Pontiac-GM of Canada (C-P-C) Group, Allen replaces Ed Lechtzin who was named director of technology image management for GM's North American Organization (NAO) Public Affairs Staff. Both appointments are effective immediately.
 Allen began his General Motors career in 1968 as a Previews of Progress lecturer with the GM Public Relations Staff. He was named staff assistant in 1972 and moved to the news relations section three years later. In 1977, Allen was appointed public relations staff specialist for Buick Motor Division and was promoted to public relations director for General Motors Parts Division in 1980.
 Named assistant director of public relations for GM's New York office in 1981, Allen was appointed manager later that year. He was promoted to media relations director for the C-P-C Group in 1984, the position he held until his recent assignment.
 A native of Flint, Mich., Allen received his bachelor of arts degree in modern history from the University of Michigan in 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy as a journalist from 1968 until 1972 and also worked as a reporter for the Norwich (Conn.) Bulletin. Allen completed the Harvard University Executive Program in 1986.
