DEBRA McGINTY-POTEET, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, BANK OF AMERICA, NAMED DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS OF CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY

 SAN FRANCISCO, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Debra McGinty-Poteet, senior vice president and director of mutual funds for Bank of America, has been named Distinguished Alumnus from the College of Health & Human Services of California State University, at Long Beach. She holds a master's degree in public administration from California State University, Long Beach.
 The university's Alumni Association annually presents this award, which recognizes outstanding achievement and distinction, to an alumnus from each college on the Long Beach Campus.
 McGinty-Poteet will be among seven honorees at the Alumni Awards Banquet May 28 at the Long Beach Hilton Hotel.
 Based in Los Angeles, McGinty-Poteet is responsible for sales, marketing, administration, and service-provider relationships for Bank of America's retail and institutional proprietary mutual funds. Bank of America Funds Management is the largest bank-managed mutual funds operation in the country.
 She was appointed to her present position in June 1992. Before that, she was vice president of marketing and sales for the mutual funds group of Security Pacific National Bank, which merged with Bank of America in April 1992. She joined Security Pacific in 1983.
 McGinty-Poteet was recently ranked among the country's top 40 bankers under the age of 40 by American Banker, the banking industry newspaper. She was one of the first bank members of the Investment Company Institute, the national mutual fund trade association.
 She is also a member of the '40 Act Committee, an industry group of mutual fund business and legal professionals, and speaks frequently on mutual funds and marketing at industry seminars. She is on the board of directors of the Sierra Boys Ranch, a non-profit treatment facility for abused and neglected children.
 Her bachelor's degree is from the University of Southern California at Los Angeles. A native of Hanford, Calif., she lives with her husband and two children in Glendale.
