DCA PROVIDES INDICATION FOR THIRD FISCAL QUARTER

ALPHARETTA, Ga., March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Communications Associates Inc. (DCA) (NYSE: DCA) today said preliminary indications are that its operating results will break even for its third quarter ending March 31.
As reported in a news release issued Feb. 12, DCA said its Pacific Data Products Inc. (PDP) printer products subsidiary was experiencing a slowdown in sales -- which accelerated during the remainder of February -- of its printer-related products. In addition, DCA noted its communications business had also experienced some slowness in January and, based on February sales, is now not expected to enable the company to meet revenue expectations for the quarter.
DCA said its communications business has been impacted by a freeze on purchases at several of its major governmental customers and a decline from the previous quarter's sales of its coax communications products.
In the February press release, DCA announced a restructuring at PDP, the write-off of goodwill associated with PDP and the write-off of other assets resulting in an aggregate one-time charge to earnings of approximately $67.7 million or $6.09 per share for the third quarter.
Based 30 miles north of Atlanta, DCA designs, manufactures, markets and supports products worldwide that enhance the productivity of users of personal computers.
